Psalm 25:4-5 4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long.
Reflect
Waiting for the Lord is, of course, what Advent is about. But for what specifically are we waiting? Guidance comes from God but only if we are open to his instruction and teaching. First we need to listen, second to trust in His word and third to act upon it. Further we have to relinquish control, stop thinking we can achieve it all by ourselves – we can’t. By trusting in the Lord we can learn to let go and let God into that inner space which only He can fill. Then and only then will we be able to see His way forward and experience that inner peace that comes from a close relationship with Him.
Pray
Father God please open our hearts and minds to hear your word so that we might learn to do your will. Amen.
Act
Set aside a time from your busy day to be still with God and listen to His word.
