“Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt,” – Matthew 2:14
Reflection
This past year, many of us have spent more time than ever before in our homes – we have been told to stay at home, to keep ourselves and others safe.
In contrast, Joseph is taking Mary and Jesus away from home. Joseph is doing what he has been told to do, and is making them all homeless refugees, in order to keep Jesus safe from Herod.
We hear regularly of the plight of the homeless, and refugees. There are probably more refugees now than ever before. Can you imagine how you would have coped this year, without somewhere to call home?
Pray
We pray for those who have no shelter and no home this Christmas; for those who have had to flee their homes in order to seek safety.
Act
Look out for opportunities to help – sign a petition, support charities working with refugees, be aware of the need in your community.
